IP addresses are used for the purpose of geolocation, when associating an advertiser with a query and user location.
IP addreses are not stored or recorded.
Once an advertisement has been displayed, there is no way for us to associate an IP address with a query.
We do not log incoming access requests but we do log errors, for diagnostic purposes.
Please note that just because we don't record your IP address, doesn't mean that our ISP (or your ISP) isn't recording them.
User communications are protected by a LetsEncrypt certificate.
Query terms may be used and stored for analytical purposes.
Where query terms are recorded, they are not time-stamped or associated with IP addresses. Only the query terms themselves are recorded.
The location of the origin of a query (as derived from IP address) may be stored for analytical purposes. The IP address will not be recorded or stored.
This website does not use fingerprinting or any other technologies intended to identify users with or without their permission.
This website has no concept of users or user accounts. No personal data about a user is recorded, with the exception of IP addresses as described above. As no user data is recorded, no such data can be used - either by us or by third parties.
We use data about your interface device in order to determine how data should be presented to you (e.g. screen dimensions). Once used, this data is not recorded.
When selecting advertisements to display, your query term along with your geolocation data may be used to select an appropriate advertiser(s) from our internal list. No data is shared with the advertiser(s).
We do not employ - and therefore do not share any information with - third party organisations such as analytics companies.
If you click on an advertisement, you will be entering into an external communication with the advertiser. We have no control over external communications and therefore no control over what information may be being recorded about you by the advertiser.
LEGAL INFORMATION REQUESTS
This website will comply with properly authorised legal requests for information.
If the security services want to get you, they will. They operate with no effective oversight, as politicians are terrified of them. Don't think that the security measures employed by this index will protect you from them. They've almost certainly broken HTTPS and they may be watching you right now.
"Every thing secret degenerates, even the administration of justice; nothing is safe that does not show how it can bear discussion and publicity." - Lord Acton
The security measures taken on this web site are there to seek to reduce the risks which we all face from identity theft, search blackmail and other nefarious internet activities, and are not there to protect you while you look for how to conduct illegal activities (which you won't find on this web site anyway).
I don't own a Smart Phone, but someone I know recently showed me theirs and I was horrified at the amount of information that it records. Frankly, if you use one of those things, it's pretty pointless worrying about privacy. They probably know more about you than you do.
SO, WHAT DATA DO YOU RECORD AND WHAT DO YOU DO WITH IT - EXACTLY?
This turned out to be a long screed. I've dedicated a seprate page to it here.
